To make this ruffle version of Anastacia dress, use the pattern (and a 4,5 mm hook) and make the Lillian top (free) but with slim straps.. then make some adjustments:
Dress
- Measure and crochet the dress from below your bust and down and crochet ’til just above your knee – or where you want it to split and become asymmetric

Skirt ruffle & asymmetric shape:
- Stop connecting the round – crochet back and forth with 2 decreases at the beginning and end of each row – repeat.
- Break off the yarn and insert hook in the slit
- Crochet down the sides of the dress and all the way around until you reach the slit again: Make 3 dc, 1 dc, 1 dc – repeat. Every dc row counts as 2 stitches.
- After one row turn over and make 1 dc in every stitch – repeat and break off when you have your desired length
Dress ruffles on the front & straps:
- Now onto the front and strap ruffles. One row of ruffles go from the side of your waist – diagonally up on the edge of the bra cup, on the edge of the strap, ending at the end of the strap
- The other row of ruffles start at the middle of the bra cups, the edge of the strap and end on the back as well.
- Crochet directly into the top of the dress and around the rows/middle of the rows (don’t worry about exactly where your hook enters – see it a bit like sewing freely)
- Follow the same pattern as before: 3 dc, 1 dc, 1 dc. Counting each row as 2 stitches. Except for bra cup and strap where each row (each hole in the row) counts as 1 stitch
- Crochet back with 1 dc in every stitch and continue for as many rows as you want.
- Make the other ruffle – here I made less rows of ruffle on the bra cup whereas the ruffle on the strap has the same rows as the first one. Do this by just turning over at the top of the bra cup, crocheting back and forth only on the strap.

Adding elastic:
- Now you add elastic – you can find a free tutorial here. Or follow the steps I made:
- Take a piece of elastic (0,5 cm) that measures about 5-10 cm less than your strap length
- Put it onto the front of the strap (directly on the right facing side)
- Secure with safety pins – try on the dress to see if you should shorten it
- Sew it onto each end of the strap
Hiding the elastic under the ruffles:
- Now you crochet a single crochet edge on the other side of the strap, flip the ruffle so it lays on your shoulder and hides the elastic
- Sew or slip stitch the sc-edge onto approx the 1st row of ruffles on the wrong side, this way hiding the elastic inside the strap
- Crochet or sew the width of the ruffle to the back of the dress (below your armpit)
- Do the same with the other strap
- Now you are done and can enjoy your unique and feminine ruffle dress.
